THEORIES OF EVERYTHING by Roz Chast

Don't be put off by the high-tech-sounding title. This book has Roz Chast's best cartoons published by the New Yorker Magazine from 1978 to 2006. You'll laugh out loud, over and over again.

Chast has a fabulous, dry sense of humor. She pokes gentle fun at men, women and kids, tuning into the anxieties, foibles, and superstitions that modern life imposes upon us. This hefty book arranges her cartoons in chronological order. Don't be discouraged if you don't laugh during the first few pages. Her stuff gets funnier and funnier as you move on. The hardcover version weighs 4 1/2 pounds -- so there's a lot to laugh at.

I saw an interview with Chast on the web and she's absolutely delightful -- modest about her accomplishments, and with a wonderful outlook on life. This is a "don't miss" book.
